Well firstly, to study for the TOEFL IBT, you need to see if you can enlist in a language school that provides TOEFL lessons with a qualified staff that has experience. Second thing you should do is to check out every available book and research material that you can look up yourself besides a lesson. The more options you have available for yourself, the bigger the chances on preparing yourself for the exam. Most of the bookstores with foreign literature and imported books have TOEFL based material (most popular research materials are Barron's, Kaplan, Manhattan etc.).

Last but not least, when undertaking the preparation for the TOEFL exam, you should bare in mind that the process on getting prepared for it is solely on the person undertaking it. How much time you need to get ready and how good you get ready is based solely on how well you know English language and how well you know the limits of your learning capacities.
